Packers easiest roster decisions in 2022: Cut Za’Darius Smith

Za’Darius Smith is another Packers’ star who missed a lot of games in 2021–basically the entire season minus spot duty in the season-opener and the playoff loss. Because of that Green Bay has already learned how to play without him.

Don’t get me wrong, Smith is still a very talented player and someone the Packers’ defense would love to have (they’ll have to figure out the outside linebacker spot opposite Rashan Gary. Cutting Preston Smith would also save them a good chunk of money, but then their depth is severely questionable. Anyways, I digress).

If the Packers decide to cut Smith, they’ll save a whopping $15.28 million on this year’s cap. That’s nearly a third of what they need to rid themselves of before the new season begins, meaning this is one of their easiest roster decisions to make.
