Most likely Packers to be cut: Randall Cobb

When Aaron Rodgers was able to reconcile his differences with the Packers’ front office last summer, one of the moves they seemingly agreed upon was to trade for Randall Cobb from the Houston Texans.

Cobb responded by having his worst year as a pro since his rookie season. In 12 games, he had only 28 receptions for 375 yards and five touchdowns. The connection between Cobb and Rodgers was evident, as they found each other on a number of critical third downs and red zone opportunities.

However, the Packers can’t justify keeping him on their roster for his 2022 cap hit of $9.5 million. There are far too many other needs Green Bay has–including trying to keep Davante Adams–and paying a wide receiver in the back half of his career that much money just isn’t worth it. If the Packers cut him, it will save a much-needed $6.75 million off their cap.
