Prediction: The Green Bay Packers keep Adrian Amos

Some of these decisions are more difficult than others–but this one seems like a no-brainer. The safety position without Amos doesn’t just get a little worse, but it takes a drastic step backwards, and the entire defense would feel the negative effects of this.

Amos is playing some of his best football, he’s one of the game’s best and most reliable safeties, and the depth at safety is a major concern for the Green Bay Packers–which rings true even if Amos is here. Not only do I expect him back, but at 28-years-old along with everything else we’ve discussed, I expect Amos to receive an extension.

There’s the obvious in that an extension will keep Amos in Green Bay beyond the 2022 season — the final year of his current deal — but it will also lower his current cap hit, which at the moment is $11.98 million. We don’t know the specific details, but Over the Cap projected what an extension for Amos could look like, and OTC estimates that the Green Bay Packers could save $5.1 million in cap space this season.

That sounds like a win-win if you ask me.
