Players Packers can extend: Aaron Rodgers

Salary Cap Savings: $21.1 million

If Aaron Rodgers decides to come back and play instead of retiring, this is my preferred route to finagle down his $46.6 million cap hit.

I know a lot of fans are growing tired of his act, but you simply don’t get rid of a four-time MVP and a guy who is coming off back-to-back MVP awards. He’s playing at a very high level right now and there’s no telling if or when Jordan Love will be ready to start in the NFL.

Extending Rodgers can rid him of feeling like a lame-duck quarterback and give him a sense of security he could be looking for. It would also do huge damage to the Packers’ current cap woes and help them acquire more talent to put towards winning a Super Bowl.
