Players Packers can extend: Jaire Alexander

Salary Cap Savings: $9.8 million

Jaire Alexander missed most of the 2021 season with a shoulder injury and wasn’t nearly his same self when he returned for their one playoff game. Before his injury, he had established himself as one of the best young cornerbacks in the NFL and he’ll look to get back on track in 2022.

Alexander is up for a raise since his rookie deal is at the end of its life. His cap hit is a whopping $13.3 million in 2022 and the Packers can reduce that with the right contract extension. They’ll have to be careful, however, as Alexander deserves to get paid as one of the better corners in the NFL and any cap savings they apply to 2022 will come back to haunt them in future years.
