The Green Bay Packers have a lot of work to do before the 2022 offseason begins, including cutting about $70 million off their salary cap. They have a number of ways they can do that including cutting players, restructuring contracts, and agreeing to extensions.
After reviewing who they can cut and who they can restructure to save the most money, we now turn our attention to contract extensions. There is more wiggle room with this maneuver, as it would not only cut money off 2022, but add money onto future years depending on the deal that is agreed upon.

Players Packers can extend: Dean Lowry
Salary Cap Savings: $3.6 million
Dean Lowry has appeared on all three lists–cut, extend, restructure–and it remains to be seen exactly what route the Packers will take with him. He’s a talented enough player that they’d love to have him if they can figure out the money aspect. However, he’s also on the lower end of the totem pole when it comes to other guys in the same position.
