Packers who could have contract restructured: David Bakhtiari

In the one years since David Bakhtiari signed his massive contract extension, he’s already restructured it once and will likely do it a second time. He’s set to have a massive $22.2 million cap hit in 2022 (that’s a lot of 2s) that the Packers could cut into via a restructure.

Bakhtiari has been one of the NFL’s best left tackles for a few years now, but the ACL tear that cost him last year’s postseason and the entire regular season in 2021 is scary for his long-term prospects. He’s confident he’ll return to full strength, but there has to be at least some worry from the organization about whether that’s true. That worry increases via a restructure. Although they could save $8.2 million, they’d be moving money into future years when Bakhtiari is even older.
