Packers who could have contract restructured: Randall Cobb

The first move Rodgers made as “general manager” of the team was to trade for Randall Cobb from the Houston Texans. Cobb had a decent impact on the team before he suffered an injury during a monster first half against the Los Angeles Rams. That cost him a lot of games down the stretch and he was limited in his return in the postseason.

Rodgers has talked about his improved relationship with the Packers’ front office and that would likely take a hit if they cut one of his favorite teammates. At the same time, Cobb is set to count $9.5 million against the Packers cap this season. That’s a huge chunk for a declining player who makes a limited impact on the field. A restructure between the two sides would save Green Bay about $3.4 million–about half of what it would be if they were to cut him outright.
