The Green Bay Packers have a lot of work to do to get under the 2022 salary cap before the offseason officially begins.

According to Salary Cap expert Ken Ingalls, the Packers are currently looking at cutting about $70.3 million in order to get enough space to sign draft picks and in-season players. These moves will probably start happening following Sunday’s Super Bowl so we thought we’d help the team out and suggest seven players who could agree to contract restructures to help Green Bay save money.

As the Green Bay Packers look to cut money this offseason, these seven players could agree to restructure their contracts.

Packers who could have contract restructured: Dean Lowry

Dean Lowry had a resurgent second half of the 2022 season and we’d hate to see him go. The Packers are already thin on the defensive line and losing their second-best lineman would leave them in an even bigger hole.

Lowry has one year remaining on his current deal with a cap hit of $8 million. That’s way too high considering the Packers’ current situation to justify them keeping him on the roster at that number next season. According to Overthecap.com (the site used to come up with all of these cap numbers), Green Bay could restructure a deal and save about $3.39 million. However, they’ll have to be careful because they already have three void years from 2023-2025 at the end of his contract.
