Packers who could be sleeper salary cap casualties: Billy Turner

Cap Number: $9,169,412

Dead Money: $5,810,000

Cap Savings: $3,359,412

Billy Turner is another player that would cost the Packers more in dead money than cap savings. However, that’s why he’s a sleeper salary cap casualty that we hope doesn’t come true.

The Packers’ front office has spent a lot of draft capital in recent years on the offensive line. We saw that pay off this year when their picks continued to produce in big spots. Yosh Nijman, who started at left tackle for part of the season, could potentially slide over and start at right tackle in this scenario. Nijman was solid for the Packers and has the athleticism to slide over to a new position. Him and a veteran backup would likely be the plan if they were to waive Turner.
