Akiem Hicks would help the Green Bay Packers defense

The Green Bay Packers defense needs more game wreckers, and Akiem Hicks can still ruin an offense with the best of them.

He is a gamble. Hicks is going to be 33. He has played in just 29 of the Bears’ last 50 games and has had a clash or two with coaches.

When he is available, he can still be an absolute monster to block in the trenches. He still fits the disruptive force label that can blow up a play. Green Bay needs more of that along the line.

Pro Football Focus has him ranked as the 18th best available free agent. They project he could be signed for a two year deal with just over $12 million guaranteed.

He would not be a major cap hit. He would be an excellent rotational player on the defensive line. Plus, he is a guy who has had a history of harassing Aaron Rodgers in games.

If the Packers have to cut Dean Lowry to get some cap savings, a motivated Hicks searching for a Super Bowl ring would not be a bad replacement along the defensive front.

Bilal Nichols might be another player to consider for the line as he is much younger. He is coming off a disappointing season but might be re-signed by the Bears.
