Packers guaranteed to be salary-cap casualties: Za’Darius Smith

Cap Number: $27,661,250

Dead Money: $12,380,000

Cap Savings: $15,281,250

Green Bay played the entire 2021 season (minus part-time snaps in the first game) without Za’Darius Smith and proved they could get it done. A lot of that has to do with the continued emergence of Rashan Gary who is ready to take the next step yet.

Still, Smith will be missed. He had a terrific first two seasons in Green Bay and was one of the spiritual leaders of the team. If he can get his back healthy, he still has a lot to give to a football team. Unfortunately, that won’t be the Packers.
