Packers guaranteed to be salary-cap casualties: Randall Cobb

Cap Number: $9,531,372

Dead Money: $2,783,334

Cap Savings: $6,748,038

Randall Cobb was general manager Aaron Rodgers’ first move after coming to a mutual agreement with Brian Gutekunst and the rest of the Packers’ front office. He had an okay season in his return, but not good enough to justify having him count as $9.5 million against the cap next season.

This will get tricky especially since the Packers want to convince Rodgers to return. Could they cut Cobb and then re-sign him to a much smaller deal that’s more equivalent to his worth? That would be the best of both worlds for Green Bay.
