Green Bay Packers defensive end Dean Lowry (94) is congratulated on his fumble recovered during the third quarter of their game Sunday, October 25, 2021 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. The Green Bay Packers beat the Washington Football Team 24-10.Packers25 8 /

The Green Bay Packers surely have a plan mapped out to get themselves under the salary cap before the start of the NFL season and a way to remain competitive next season. Unfortunately, there’s no avoiding the number of players they’ll have to depart with in order to field a legal team.

Using OverTheCap.com, I chose four players who will save Green Bay too much money to pass up on cutting them this offseason. Let’s take a look at four guys who are basically gone from their current version of their contracts.

With the massive amount of money the Green Bay Packers must cut this offseason, these four players are guaranteed to be salary cap casualties.

Packers guaranteed to be salary-cap casualties: Dean Lowry

Cap Number: $8,072,000

Dead Money: $3,988,000

Cap Savings: $4,084,000

Dean Lowry was playing some of his best ball down the stretch of the 2021 season, but saving $4 million by cutting him is probably too good to pass up. The Packers have a couple of young guys in TJ Slaton and Jack Heflin who will play prominent roles along the defensive line next season. Who knows if they’re ready to step up, but Lowry is gone unless he agrees to come back at a discounted price.
