Green Bay Packers 2021 Season Review: Offensive Tackles
By Paul Bretl
Green Bay Packers RT: Dennis Kelly
Dennis Kelly was another under-the-radar signing by Brian Gutekunst over the summer, who ended up playing a big role down the stretch, and he played it well.
Kelly took over at right tackle for Turner and really impressed. In 4.5 games of regular-season action, he would allow just one sack and four pressures. In fact, Kelly had played so well, that’s why LaFleur decided to go with the offensive line configuration that he did against San Francisco.
However, that ended up being a very rough showing for Kelly, who surrendered five pressures, including one sack, and he was also called for a penalty as well.
Kelly is now a free agent, and you have to think he won’t be back, that is, unless he is willing to take a very team-friendly deal. Kelly played out the 2021 season on a one-year $1.075 million deal.
Green Bay Packers OT: Ben Braden
Ben Braden would take three snaps at left tackle against Cleveland when Nijman had to leave the game briefly, and then one more at right tackle against Minnesota in mop-up duty.
Braden was competing for one of the starting interior offensive line positions over the summer but would end up spending a majority of the season on the practice squad. He has not been signed to a futures deal at this point, which means he likely won’t be back for the 2022 season–or at least not right away.
