Green Bay Packers 2021 Season Review: Offensive Tackles
By Paul Bretl
Green Bay Packers RT: Billy Turner
In the midst of numerous injuries to the offensive line, Billy Turner at right tackle was providing some much-needed stability to this unit. At one point, Aaron Rodgers called Turner the “unsung hero” of the offensive line and also added that he needs to be considered for the Pro Bowl.
Unfortunately, Turner would suffer a knee injury in Week 14 against Chicago, and he missed the remainder of the regular season. Prior to that, however, he had allowed three sacks and 34 pressures over 533 pass-blocking snaps per PFF.
As mentioned above, Turner would return for the playoffs, where he would play left tackle. As Turner has discussed in the past, moving from one side to the other is not an easy task, although to his credit, he did play okay, surrendering two pressures.
I’m not exactly sure what the future holds for Turner and Green Bay. 2022 is the final year of his contract, and he comes with a $9.16 million cap hit, according to Over the Cap. But if the team were to move on from him, they would save $3.35 million in cap space. Possible on the roster candidates to replace him at right tackle could be either Jenkins or Nijman.
