Green Bay Packers fourth-round selections

Pick 129: Kellen Diesch, OT, Arizona State

Takeaway: The Green Bay Packers have had a lot of success over the years selecting Day 3 offensive tackles and moving them inside to play guard. With that said, The Draft Network does project Diesch’s ideal role as a backup swing tackle.

Finding a true tackle should absolutely be on the Packers’ radar given the interior depth that Green Bay has, coupled with the uncertainty around Billy Turner’s future at right tackle — like many Packers, he is a cut candidate — and the lack of tackle options currently on the roster.

The 6’7″ – 300 pound Diesch has 1,156 career snaps, with 768 of them taking place in 2021 and almost all of them coming at left tackle. He allowed two sacks and seven pressures this past season.

Pick 135: Yusuf Corker, S, Kentucky

Takeaway: Safety is a bit of an under-the-radar need for the Green Bay Packers. While I expect Adrian Amos to return or even be extended, he is a cut candidate. Darnell Savage is coming off a down season, and Henry Black, the primary third safety, took his lumps.

Not that I would expect Corker to come in and play a ton of meaningful snaps on defense, although you never know, but the depth of this unit could use a boost. Also, you’re always looking for key special teams contributors at this stage of the draft.

Corker has three years of starting experience at Kentucky, lining up primarily as a free safety, but he also has over 600 snaps in the box and 348 from the slot.

In coverage, quarterbacks have a completion rate of 53.2 percent and are averaging just 9.7 yards per pass against Corker. He also has two career interceptions and 11 pass breakups, along with 468 special teams snaps.

Green Bay Packers fifth-round selection

Pick 170: Trae Barry, TE, Boston College

Takeaway: Tight end seemed like one of Green Bay’s deeper positions heading into 2021, but now just a few months later, there is a much more different outlook. Robert Tonyan is a free agent and who knows if Marcedes Lewis will be back for another season. That would leave the Packers with just Josiah Deguara and Dominque Dafney.

Barry played his first three seasons at Jacksonville State, catching 52 of his 71 targets for 790 yards and two touchdowns over his final two years there. The 2021 season was spent with Boston College, where Barry had 21 catches at 17.2 yards per catch with four touchdowns.

Over his career, he took 49 percent of his snaps lined up inline and 45 percent from the slot. By PFF’s grading metrics, Barry was just an okay blocker; he also has minimal special teams experience.
