The Green Bay Packers’ primary focus this offseason is getting under the salary cap before the new league year begins in March. However, they also have to figure out how to field a competitive team considering the bevy of pending free agents they are dealing with.

The front office has known for months now what lies ahead and it’s safe to assume they have a well-thought-out plan to get under the cap and keep as much talent as possible. Unfortunately, they won’t be able to keep everyone and these four unrestricted free agents probably won’t return.

The Green Bay Packers won’t be able to retain all of their pending free agents this offseason and these four players are basically gone.

Packers free agents they won’t re-sign: Lucas Patrick

Lucas Patrick has been a great jack-of-all-trades lineman for the Packers for a few years now. We saw that versatility in 2021 alone when he came off the bench to start at center in Josh Myer’s absence and then slid over to right guard upon Myer’s return.

However, the Packers have invested a lot of draft stock into their offensive line which means they have the players to replace Patrick next season. Myers will continue to start at center with Elgton Jenkins taking back his left guard spot upon his return from injury. Royce Newman, despite his struggles, can continue to play right guard with Jon Runyan Jr also starting at either guard spot depending on Jenkins’ health. That leaves four guys capable of playing on the inside and the veteran Patrick set to move on this offseason.
