Players Packers can cut to save salary cap space: Za’Darius Smith
Green Bay proved they can survive without All-Pro Za’Darius Smith thanks, in large part, to the budding star Rashan Gary. Gary fully came into his own in 2021 and his best football is ahead of him. He appears fully capable of holding down the top outside rusher spot that Za’Darius Smith previously held.

Smith missed basically all of 2021, playing only partially in the season-opener and then again in the Divisional Round playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers. When healthy, he’s a big-time player who can impact both the passing and running games. Unfortunately, the Packers’ can trim a whopping $15.281 million by cutting him. That’s too big to pass up considering their current cap situation.
