4 players Packers can cut to save $39 million in salary cap space

The Green Bay Packers are in salary cap jail this offseason. And they’ll have to find a way to free themselves of the excess money they’ve committed to.

Overthecap.com, an ironically-named website considering Green Bay’s current situation, has the Packers $40 million over the 2022 salary cap. However, it’s even worse than it seems as Twitter salary cap guru Ken Ingalls says Green Bay must cut $71.3 million from their books after you account for the draft, practice squad, exclusive rights free agents, and restricted free agents. And that’s if they let all their unrestricted free agents walk.

With Green Bay needing to make some very tough decisions this offseason, here are four guys they can cut to save nearly $39 million in total cap space.

The Green Bay Packers have a lot of work to do this offseason and can cut nearly $39 million in salary cap spaces by waiving these four players.

Players Packers can cut to save salary cap space: Dean Lowry

Defensive lineman Dean Lowry was just beginning to find his groove with the Packers too, having played some of his best ball over the second half of the 2021 season. Unfortunately, it probably wasn’t good enough to save his job on the team next year. The Packers have had issues on the defensive line for a number of seasons, but this deal might be too good to pass up.

Dead Money: $3.988 million

Cap Savings: $4.034 million
