What does the Green Bay Packers OL configuration look like?

The Green Bay Packers are going to be up against a very stout 49ers’ defensive front that ranks fifth in ESPN’s pass-rush win rate and third in run-stop win rate.

The good news is that the Packers’ offensive line is getting healthy, however, with that, there are going to be some “tough decisions,” in terms of playing time, as Matt LaFleur put it.

In a recent article, I took a closer look at what these four tough decisions are. In short, LaFleur will have to choose between Josh Myers or Lucas Patrick at center. Royce Newman or Lucas Patrick at right guard. Billy Turner or Dennis Kelly at right tackle. Or playing Turner at right guard, just as he did in 2019.

Although inexperienced, my guess is that Myers, who has more potential than Patrick is at center. Patrick slides over the right guard where he can provide a bit more reliability and experience than Newman. While at right tackle, Turner, if healthy, will get the start over Kelly–even though Kelly has filled in very well these past few weeks.

As LaFleur often says, it’s about putting the best five offensive linemen out on the field, and as we’ve seen previously, he isn’t afraid to think outside the box when it comes to his offensive line configuration. But regardless of what that lineup looks like, the quick passing game is going to play an important role for the Packers.
