11 Packers who could’ve played final regular season game with Green Bay
Packers who could’ve played last regular-season game: Randall Cobb, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Robert Tonyan
The decisions don’t get any easier on the other side of the ball.
Marquez Valdes-Scantling hasn’t been able to build upon the momentum he sustained in 2020 and could come back to Green Bay for a one-year prove-it deal with the hopes of a monster season. His speed is much-needed for the Packers and they would be a willing partner to bring him back.
Robert Tonyan suffered a serious knee injury and has missed most of this season. That came on the heels of a very slow start to the year and probably cost him a multi-year deal somewhere. He, too, could return to the Packers considering he probably won’t be ready to start the season.
Randall Cobb is in a different boat. Aaron Rodgers, the general manager, traded for Cobb this offseason and he’s been better than expected for the Packers. He’s set to count $9.6 million against the cap next season and the Packers just can’t have that. They can save $6.86 million if they cut him which is a deal they probably can’t pass up considering their nasty cap situation.
