Q: What do we see from the Green Bay Packers offense with Jordan Love?

A: Some improvements

As we all know, Jordan Love struggled in Kansas City, but the play of the offensive line, as well as LaFleur’s play-calling, didn’t do him a ton of favors either that week. This time against Detroit, however, we saw some improvements.

For starters, he looked much more comfortable in the pocket as he was getting the ball out quickly and making the correct reads. He was also much better against the blitz, both with identifying where it was coming from and getting the ball out to his hot-read. According to PFF ($$), Love was 6/8 for 55 yards an interception when blitzed.

Now, of course, there are areas to improve upon as well–what did you expect? Love’s decision-making has to continue to get better, and truthfully, we may not see real strides in this area until he gets more in-game reps. He also needs to make sure he is stepping into his throws as well–especially the downfield targets.

Love finished the day 10/17 for 134 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions — although only the second one was his fault — and he did help lead a comeback that gave Green Bay the lead late.

Q: Will David Bakhtiari play for the Green Bay Packers?

A: Yes, and he looked good

David Bakhtiari did play, and he looked good–which I guess shouldn’t come as a surprise, but you never truly know what to expect after this much time off. According to PFF, Bakhtiari didn’t allow a single pressure, and he lost just one of his 20 pass-blocking reps.

Joining Bakhtiari back on the field was Josh Myers, who allowed two pressures, and with him back in the mix at center, Lucas Patrick would slide over the right guard, where he didn’t allow any pressures.

Although Detroit’s pass rush isn’t exactly the best, entering Sunday’s game ranked 28th in pressure rate, Green Bay’s new look — and healthy — offensive line looked the part, and as I mentioned, Rodgers often times had all day to throw–which again, may be a reason why he held on to the ball for long, he just felt comfortable in the pocket.
