4 Possible Divisional Round Playoff Opponents for Packers, Ranked
The Green Bay Packers get to sit back and relax over this first weekend of the NFL Playoffs. Well, sort of. As the first seed in the NFC, they get the only first-round bye in the conference and take a wait-and-see approach to their playoff opponent.
Green Bay has four possible teams they could face in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, depending on the outcomes of the Wild Card Round: The Philadelphia Eagles (7th seed), San Francisco 49ers (6th seed), Arizona Cardinals (5th seed) or the Los Angeles Rams (4th seed). The playoffs will re-seed after the first round with the Packers hosting the lowest-seeded team remaining.
Ironically, Green Bay has already played three of the teams this season with the Eagles being the lone exception. In this ranking, we will start with the team the Packers want to see the least and move our way towards the team they most want to play. Without further ado, let’s begin!
The Green Bay Packers have four possible opponents they could play in the Divisional Round of the playoffs, so let’s rank them!
Packers’ Possible Divisional Round Playoff Opponent: 4. Los Angeles Rams
Green Bay has had the Rams’ number over the past two seasons–defeating them in the Divisional Round last year and then again in the regular season. Aaron Donald wasn’t 100 percent in the playoffs when they met and said he had revenge on his mind earlier this season. I wouldn’t want to test that a third time around.
The Rams host the Arizona Cardinals in the opening round, as they won the NFC West thanks to a late-season push. They have the most individual talent of any of the possible opponents as well as an elite offensive coaching staff. Green Bay would still be the favorites, but they’d prefer not to play such a talented team right away.
