Most important Packers for Super Bowl Run: Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Getting back to the offense, momentarily at least, brings us to Marquez Valdes-Scantling. I was one of the biggest supporters of Valdes-Scantling in the offseason and felt like he was in for a breakout campaign. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to live up to the hype I generated for him.

Valdes-Scantling is the only Packers’ wide receiver who can exploit a defense consistently over the top. His speed threat spreads out the defense vertically and allows head coach Matt LaFleur to run a lot of the horizontal routes he loves to implement. It will be imperative for Valdes-Scantling to continue stretching defenses vertically, not only for himself, but for his teammates as well.
