Most important Packers for Super Bowl Run: Darnell Savage

Darnell Savage hasn’t been able to match the level of play he showed over the second half of last season and into the playoffs. That was never more on display than in one of Green Bay’s recent games against the Baltimore Ravens. Tasked with defending their best pass-catcher–tight end Mark Andrews–Savage was unable to do anything to slow the big man down. Andrews had his way against Savage and Green Bay was forced to look elsewhere to stop him.

After posting an overall defensive grade of 75.3 according to PFF in 2020, that number has plummeted to 60.1 this season–the lowest of his three-year career. Green Bay needs Savage’s speed and athleticism to show up if they want to slow down some of the most potent offenses in the NFC.
