What the Green Bay Packers have accomplished this season is nothing short of amazing. For the third consecutive year, they’ve won 13 games–an NFL record–and have secured a first-round bye in the playoffs. And this might be the most impressive of them all, as they’ve done it extremely shorthanded.

Head coach Matt LaFleur continues to break records on this amazing start to his NFL head coaching career. He’s won more games than any other coach through his first three seasons and has made it to back-to-back NFC Championship games.

With Green Bay looking to extend that streak to three–and, finally, get over the hump this time around–they could get some reinforcements to help their journey.

The Green Bay Packers are set to receive an influx of talent as they look to make a deep postseason run to the Super Bowl.

The Packers have played most of the season without a number of key players. By now, you know who that is–Za’Darius Smith, David Bakhtiari, Elgton Jenkins, Jaire Alexander, Robert Tonyan, Josh Myers, Billy Turner and Randall Cobb, just to name a few.

The good news is it appears a number of them are close to returning.

Bakhtiari is listed as questionable ahead of the Packers’ season finale against the Detroit Lions while Josh Myers is set to make his return. If Bakhtiari can go, after practicing in full for the first time on Friday, that would be a huge boost for the Packers’ offensive line. They were forced to go without him in last year’s playoffs and it was a factor in their NFC Championship game loss to the Buccaneers.

As great a job as Yosh Nijman has done since Elgton Jenkins went down, getting the best left tackle in the game back would be amazing. Myers reclaiming his starting spot will also help the interior of their offensive line and give the coaching staff some flexibility if Royce Newman continues to struggle. There’s no word yet on the potential return of Billy Turner, but he could be another option to slide inside considering how Dennis Kelly has played at right tackle.

Alexander, who had been practicing before landing on the COVID-list, is listed as out after finally clearing protocols on Friday. However, he’s been practicing for a number of weeks and LaFleur mentioned it’s all about how he handles the pain when going for tackles. It’s likely he’ll be set to return in full for the playoffs.

Although guys like Tonyan and Jenkins have been ruled out for the rest of the season, Cobb has the potential to return to provide another boost to the offense. He’ll need these next two weeks, but don’t be surprised to see him give it a go as well. Cobb has been a favorite of Aaron Rodgers’ on third downs and could provide a nice situational boost for the Packers.

It’s likely they won’t get everybody back that they want, but even a few of those guys will be a huge boost for the team. The Packers won 13 games (maybe 14) without them. The sky is the limit for what they can achieve with that much talent back in the lineup.
