Observations from Packers victory over Vikings: Red zone woes

The reason Green Bay needed to rely on so many field goals was because of their ineffectiveness in the red zone. Their first two drives of the night resulted in trips into the red zone, but only produced three points–a Crosby field goal following Josiah Deguara dropping a dime in the endzone and a turnover on downs. They finished the night only scoring touchdowns on three of their seven red-zone trips.

That’s been a season-long issue for Green Bay after they were historically good in that category last season. Their 58.2 percent red-zone conversion rate ranks 19th in the league. That’s a number that’s far too low considering all the weapons the Packers have.
