The Green Bay Packers might have a big problem on their hand with Aaron Rodgers’ lingering toe injury.

Injuries, in general, have been a big issue for Green Bay this season as it’s touched just about every single position, including their star players. David Bakhtiari has yet to play a snap this season after recovering from his ACL injury last December, Za’Darius Smith hasn’t played since Week 1, Jaire Alexander has been out since Week 4, Elgton Jenkins is out for the year with a serious leg injury, as is Robert Tonyan, and Billy Turner looks to have suffered a serious injury in Sunday night’s contest against the Chicago Bears.

Green Bay has been able to survive all those injuries and cruise to a 10-3 record, in large part, due to Rodgers’ stellar play.

The Green Bay Packers’ MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been dealing with a toe injury that worsened after their game against the Bears.

Following the game against the Bears, Rodgers has now thrown for 1,033 yards, 10 touchdowns and completed 69.6 percent of his passes over his last three games. This has put him squarely in the MVP conversation and he’ll likely be one of the two favorites heading into Week 15.

Unfortunately, he’ll have to figure out how to deal with this lingering toe injury. Rodgers apparently suffered a fractured left pinky toe while working out at home when he was quarantining with covid. He’s played two games before the bye with the injury and was notably limping in their second game against the Los Angeles Rams. He said it had worsened and he needed pain medications at halftime of that game.

Rodgers looked into surgery during the bye, but ultimately decided against it. Instead, he elected rest and said it felt pretty good heading into the Bears’ game. Good enough that he actually practiced on Friday.

Following the come-from-behind victory against Chicago, Rodgers’ toe injury appears to have gotten much worse. In his post-game press conference, Rodgers said he feels he suffered a setback with the toe. He said his toe “feels worse” and “I don’t know what kind of setback that I had tonight but we’ll look at it tomorrow. But definitely took a step back tonight.”

That’s not good news for the Packers who are in a tight battle for the top seed in the NFC. They currently sit a half-game behind the Arizona Cardinals who will host the Rams on Monday Night. The Packers play the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions over the next four weeks with a chance to overtake the Cardinals for the top seed if Arizona loses just one game.

Next. 5 Packers that will determine rest of season success. dark

I’m sure Rodgers and the Packers will be diligent in looking at all their options. Although the top seed and first-round bye would be nice, it’s not the ultimate goal. Green Bay isn’t going anywhere without a healthy Rodgers and everybody knows it.
