6 Big Questions Facing Green Bay Packers v. Bears
By Paul Bretl
Can the Green Bay Packers field goal unit find some consistency?
Through 12 games, Mason Crosby has made only 18 of his 27 field goal attempts, with nine being the most he has missed in a season since 2012 when he was 21 of 33–however, there are still five games remaining.
The field goal unit almost cost Green Bay the game in Cincinnati, and you can point to it being one of the reasons why they lost the Kansas City and Minnesota games. Given their performance this season, it certainly could be just a matter of time before they hurt this team again.
While Crosby is certainly to blame, he isn’t the sole reason for these issues either. There have been bad snaps, poor holds, and at times the blocking has been downright horrendous.
I imagine the faith in this unit is declining quite rapidly, and for a team with Super Bowl aspirations, fixing it is a must.
"“We have to be good. We have to be right. We have to be automatic every time we take the field,” Crosby said via SI. “That is what it needs to be, and that is the expectation. So, we’re not looking at, ‘Oh, we’ve got to work, it takes time,’ all these things. I’m never going to make an excuse there. We’re working through it, we’re working on it now. We will be good, and we will get it right because this team deserves that. We have something special here, and we have to make sure we execute at a high level.”"
