Can the Green Bay Packers cure those post-bye week blues?

As I wrote about recently — click here to read more — while there has been an abundance of success in the Matt LaFleur era, the team has struggled coming off their bye weeks. The Green Bay Packers are currently 0-2 during the LaFleur era following regular-season byes.

Now, in their defense, they’ve played two very good teams and had to do so on the road. In 2019, they would lose to San Francisco, who represented the NFC in the Super Bowl that season, and in 2020, Green Bay would lose to Tampa Bay, the eventual Super Bowl Champion.

However, having said that, if you recall, it’s not as if the Packers were on their A-games in either instance. In fact, they ended up being blown out on both occasions, losing 37-8 to San Francisco and 38-10 to Tampa Bay.

This is still too small of a sample size to call this a trend, but if at home the Green Bay Packers lose a much less talented Chicago Bears team, it may be time for LaFleur to look into the team’s bye week schedule and make some adjustments.
