Positions Packers could target in 2022 NFL Draft: Slot corner

The Packers also have an interesting dilemma at cornerback this offseason. They used a first-round pick on Eric Stokes in 2021 and he’s shown promise to become a good player in the NFL. Star Jaire Alexander has missed most of the season with an injury and only has one more year left on his contract. Kevin King is an unrestricted free agent and likely gone. The same for Rasul Douglas who has probably priced himself out of the Packers’ range considering their money issues next offseason.

As for slot corner, there’s a chance they could try Alexander there when he returns considering the way Douglas and Stokes have played this year. There’s also Chandon Sullivan’s play. Sullivan has been manning primary duties in the slot and is a primary target when teams are looking to pick on someone. He’s a free agent next year and someone the Packers could let walk.

If they do let him walk and keep Alexander on the outside, they could look to draft a slot cornerback in the first round. Historically, Green Bay hasn’t had the best of luck drafting corners (minus Alexander and what looks to be Stokes). We’ll see if they try their hand yet again at the top of the draft.
