Positions Packers could target in 2022 NFL Draft: Edge rusher

Perhaps, there’s not a position that’s more up in the air for 2022 than edge rusher. Technically, Za’Darius Smith, Preston Smith and Rashan Gary are all under contract next season, but that doesn’t mean they will all be there when the season begins (minus Gary).

Green Bay could save a bunch of money by cutting and moving on from either of the Smith’s and that seems like a viable option for some of the massive cap savings they need to do.

Gary’s play this season likely has him as part of the team’s long-term plans. However, they desperately need depth, as they’ve cycled through late-round draft picks and undrafted free agents behind Smith and Gary this season.
