Packers’ unsung heroes: Marquez Valdes-Scantling

So Marquez Valdes-Scantling hasn’t quite lived up to the hype of the Packers’ breakout player many predicted before the season (myself included when I boldly claimed he’d have over 1,000 receiving yards in 2021). Injuries have played a major role in that, but so has his production.

The good news is he’s been rolling since he returned from injury and particularly the last three weeks. Valdes-Scantling is the only player on the Packers who can blow the top off the defense and Rodgers loves to take deep shots to him. Even if the two don’t always connect, forcing a safety to play over the top creates tons of room for other receivers to operate underneath and in the middle of the field.
