The Ugly for the Green Bay Packers

Injuries

If you’re a fan of the show The Office, do you remember the scene where Dwight keeps hitting Jim with snowballs and at one point Jim is sitting there in a daze and says, “I just want it to stop”? That’s how I feel about these injuries. It seems like there isn’t a week that goes by where Green Bay hasn’t sustained an injury.

I know I’ve probably forgotten a few names, but here is a quick look at which players have missed games this season, whether due to an injury or a stint on the reserve/COVID list:

Aaron Rodgers

Davante Adams

Allen Lazard

Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Lucas Patrick

Elgton Jenkins

David Bakhtiari

Josh Myers

Robert Tonyan

Aaron Jones

Kylin Hill

Za’Darius Smith

Rashan Gary

Jaire Alexander

Kevin King

Krys Barnes

Eric Stokes

Tyler Lancaster

"“I don’t know if I’ve ever been around a team that’s suffered this many injuries,” coach Matt LaFleur said via SI. “It is encouraging that we’re sitting where we are right now at 9-3 and having to battle through so much adversity.”"

As LaFleur said, the fact that Green Bay is 9-3 despite all of these injuries is quite impressive. It’s a credit to him and the coaching staff for having everyone prepared and drawing up effective game plans for a short-handed team, as well as the role players and backups who have been tasked with larger roles this season.

There’s only so much that a team can do to prevent injuries–so unlike the issues listed in the “bad” category that we hope Green Bay is able to correct, there’s not really a lot that can be done in this regard. Let’s just cross our fingers and hope that this team will continue to get healthy and not lose any more players this season to injury.
