With the Green Bay Packers‘ bye week finally here, let’s take a break from the every week football stuff and peak toward the offseason where the front office will be forced to make many difficult decisions when it comes to the salary cap and free agency.

Green Bay moved all their proverbial chips to the middle of the table this season and are clearly in win-now mode. However, that’s created some problems for the future, particularly their 2022 salary cap. General Manager Brian Gutekunst will have a lot of maneuvering to do to get under the cap next season.

For now, let’s take a look at nine Packers who will be unrestricted free agents in 2022 and could be playing their final games in green and gold.

The Green Bay Packers have a number of difficult decisions to make when it comes to re-signing their own pending free agents this offseason.

Packers in final year of contract: Lucas Patrick

The Packers continue to invest heavily into their offensive line including using six selections on the position in the last two drafts combined. That devotion to drafting and developing players means they’re unlikely to retain guys like Lucas Patrick when their next contract comes due.

Patrick is making just over $2 million this season and is an unrestricted free agent in 2022. His versatility has been valuable, but he’s only playing this year because of injuries to guys ahead of him. He’ll be looking for a raise next year and the Packers can’t afford to give him one. His days are likely numbered in Green Bay.
