Non-tendered free agents Brewers should pursue: Phil Gosselin, utility

Brewers’ manager Craig Counsell and utility players go together like peanut butter and jelly. The Los Angeles Angels surprisingly decided not to tender a contract to Phil Gosselin, making him an unrestricted free agent.

In 2021 alone, he played left field, right field, third base, first base and second base. He’s also played some shortstop throughout his career. If that doesn’t scream Counsell at you, I don’t know what does.

Gosselin was a fairly productive hitter last season as he hit .261 with a .314 on-base percentage to go along with seven home runs in 104 appearances. The Brewers may have already acquired a utility player, but it wouldn’t hurt to take a look at another one.
