Packers big victory over Rams: The good, bad and grade
Following a disappointing divisional loss, the Green Bay Packers responded how they always have under head coach Matt LaFleur: With a big-time victory.
This time it was the vaunted Los Angeles Rams in their path. The Rams were hungry for a victory following two straight losses and a season-ending defeat at the hands of this same Packers team in last year’s postseason. None of that mattered as the Packers handled their business and head into their bye week on a high note.
Let’s hand out grades while also taking a look at who played well and who struggled.
Let’s check out the good, bad, and hand out grades for the Green Bay Packers in their big victory over the Los Angeles Rams.
Packers big victory over Rams: The good: Randall Cobb, Davante Adams, motivated Matt LaFleur, Rasul Douglas.
The Packers’ veteran wide receivers came to play on Sunday as Randall Cobb accounted for four receptions for 95 yards and a touchdown in the first half alone (he never returned after the break due to a groin injury) and Davante Adams had eight receptions for 104 yards. Aaron Rodgers’ trust with them flashes every single week.
Speaking of flashes, Matt LaFleur always appears at his best when it comes to his old friends. That’s when he seems to devise his most creative game plans that include a ton of motion, misdirection and confusion for opposing defenses. He did a brilliant job to help lead the short-handed Packers to an upset victory over the Rams.
The defense did enough and forced Los Angeles into three turnovers (one of them coming on special teams). Rasul Douglas continues to earn himself a huge raise next year as he housed a Matthew Stafford pass in the third quarter. He had another opportunity for an interception in the fourth but let it go right through his hands.
