Under the radar free agents for Brewers: Luis Garcia, RP

Brewers’ president David Stearns is already on record that the team will continue to rely on their pitching strength next season instead of trading assets to upgrade their offense. That means they could be in the market for a veteran reliever or two.

If so, Luis Garcia of the Cardinals would be a viable candidate. As a soon-to-be 35-year-old reliever, teams may be scared away by his age. That could be exactly the opening Milwaukee needs to slide their foot in the door and sign Garcia for cheap.

He’s coming off the second-best season of his career after making his first appearance in July. He threw a ton of strikes last season and missed a bunch of bats as well. Milwaukee has a history of helping pitchers once they get in their system and their coaching staff could help Garcia continue the late-career success he found late in 2021.
