The Green Bay Packers have a long history of building their team through the draft and rarely dipping their toe into free agency. However, that’s changed a bit since Brian Gutekunst has taken over as the general manager, as the team hasn’t been as afraid to sign players from other teams.

Some of those guys are currently playing huge roles with the Packers. Let’s take a look at five veterans (players who aren’t on their rookie contracts) who have played better than their salary dictates.

These five veterans on the Green Bay Packers have played well this season and have outperformed their current contract with the team.

Packers’ who have outperformed contract: Billy Turner

Billy Turner was one of the four big free agents Gutekunst and the Packers signed back in 2019 when they agreed on a four-year, $28 million deal. Turner has been as versatile as advertised and has bounced all over the offensive line during his time in Green Bay.

He’s been able to be much more stable this year, as he’s played all 646 snaps of his at right tackle. Turner doesn’t get the same recognition as some of the other guys on the line, but he quietly does his job every single night. His cap hit of $4.85 million ranks 37th in the NFL among offensive tackles according to Spotrac and his PFF grade of 68.5 ranks 43rd so he’s basically a wash in that department. However, the stability and versatility he provides to the team is way more valuable than that.
