Brewers’ free agents to avoid: Javier Baez

The Brewers are all too familiar with Javier Baez considering the time he spent with the Chicago Cubs. While he may be a fan favorite to the team he’s on, rival fans call him a nuisance at best.

Baez hasn’t been his usual self for a couple of years now, although he did rebound nicely following a mid-season trade to the New York Mets this season. However, he strikes out far too often at the plate, registering a strikeout rate of at least 25.9 percent dating back to the 2017 season.

He can play a number of different positions which could entice Stearns and company to look into acquiring him. However, at 28-years-old he’ll likely be looking for a four or five year deal with an average salary of around $20 million per year. That’s far too pricey for the Brewers.
