Brewers’ free agents to avoid: Jorge Soler

Jorge Soler was a dead-man walking for most of the 2021 season until a mid-season trade occurred and he found his way to Atlanta.

During his first 94 games with the Kansas City Royals, he batted .192 with a .288 on-base percentage to go along with 13 home runs and 37 RBIs. He lit the world on fire with the Braves and finished the year extremely strong, winning the World Series MVP. That hot finish will greatly increase the salary he commands this offseason, but I’m not sure that’s the real Soler. He also has a lengthy injury history that should be worrisome for a team with the suddenly injury-prone Lorenzo Cain and Christian Yelich on the roster. Oh, and Soler’s defense is horrendous.
