Packers fall to Chiefs in Love’s first start: The good, bad and grade
Packers Loss to Chiefs: The Grade:
Offense: D+
The Chiefs’ defense has been ascending for a few weeks now, but that’s no excuse for his performance. It starts with the coaching staff as they quickly abandon the run that seemed to be working. They also didn’t have a gameplan for the constant pressure Kansas City was throwing at them. Love also looked nervous out there and didn’t settle down until late in the game.
Defense: A
Despite the loss, it’s clear this defense is ready to contribute to a Super Bowl contending team this season. They knocked people around and flexed their muscles against the Chiefs. It was an inspiring performance for a unit missing its top cornerback and top edge rusher for the entire game, as well as its top defensive lineman for the second half. If they can get healthy down the stretch, they could help lead Green Bay to the promised land.
Special Teams: F
What else is there to say? Any mistake you could think of this unit probably made it on Sunday. Despite coaching the special teams for just nine games, it’s natural to wonder if Maurice Drayton’s job is at risk. This unit is a walking disaster every single week.
