Things Badgers have to do to win Big Ten West: Feed Braelon Allen

Wisconsin has been a factory at producing stud running backs that have seemed to endlessly cycle through their program. However, they haven’t had that stud RB the past two years and they’ve struggled as a result.

That drought seems to be over now. Freshman Braelon Allen has emerged as the next big running back to come out of Wisconsin. He transitioned from defense when he entered college and didn’t see much playing time at the beginning of the season. However, he’s now established himself as the go-to guy for the Badgers.

He’s racked up at least 100 rushing yards in each of the last four games and is averaging 6.8 yards per rush on the season. It appears he’s passed (or is about to pass) Chez Mellusi as the go-to back. Allen had 20 carries for 104 yards against Iowa while Mellusi had 19 attempts for just 48 yards. It’s clear the Badgers must get Allen the ball as much as possible down the stretch.
