Green Bay Packers Key to Victory No. 2: Control the clock

This was one of my keys to victory last week against Arizona and it is still crucial this week. While the Kansas City Chiefs may be 4-4, this is still an explosive offense that ranks ninth in points per game. On top of that, Patrick Mahomes is still top-5 in both touchdowns and passing yards, Tyreek Hill is fifth among receivers in yards, and Travis Kelce is first in yards among tight ends. You get the idea, this is still a very dangerous unit that can put up points at the flip of a switch

With Jordan Love quarterbacking Green Bay, the Packers do not want this game to turn into a back-and-forth high-scoring shootout. So that means keeping Mahomes on the sidelines as much as possible and not only winning the time of possession battle but dominating it, if possible.

Three and outs from the defense, turnovers, and of course, a strong Packers run game that allows Green Bay to string together long time-consuming scoring drives will be key ingredients to this recipe. Against a similarly explosive Arizona Cardinals’ offense, the Packers held the ball for over 37 minutes–in a perfect world, they’ll do the same this Sunday.
