3 Practice Squad moves for Green Bay Packers
After missing Monday’s practice, quarterback Kurt Benkert was placed on the reserve/COVID list. Green Bay would also bring back interior defensive lineman Abdullah Anderson, who spent a portion of training camp with the team.
Anderson stands 6’4″ – 295 pounds and was a 2018 UDFA from Bucknell. He has 116 career NFL snaps with Chicago and Minnesota, logging six pressures, a sack, four tackles, and one tackle for loss (PFF). During his time at Bucknell, Anderson appeared in 43 games posting 171 tackles, 33.5 tackles for loss, 15.5 sacks, and 14 pass deflections. He is known more for his run defense than for getting after the quarterback.
This final move was that the Packers released edge rusher Aaron Adeoye, who was signed just a few weeks ago. Adeoye has appeared in one NFL game with Baltimore and has primarily been on their practice squad since 2019. With the addition of Whitney Mercilus and Preston Smith now healthy, Green Bay’s edge rusher depth has improved since Adeoye was originally signed.
Following these moves, the Green Bay Packers have three roster spots open on the 53-man and one on the practice squad, according to Ken Ingalls. So another practice squad addition could be incoming.
At some point, those three roster spots will likely go to Marquez Valdes-Scantling, David Bakhtiari, and Davante Adams when they are available, not to mention that elevating running back Patrick Taylor from the practice squad could be an option as well with Kylin Hill out for the year. Ken also calculates the Packers having $5.57 million in available cap space.
