Yes, the Green Bay Packers currently sit atop the NFC North and is tied for second in the NFC with a 5-1 record, but there are plenty of alluring reasons why they should make a big deal at or before this year’s trade deadline.

Green Bay’s strength of schedule has been fairly weak so far–their five victories have come against the Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Cincinnati Bengals and Chicago Bears of whom only the Bengals have a winning record. They have another cupcake in the Washington Football Team this Sunday before their schedule turns for the worse.

The Packers’ front office hasn’t been shy to add free-agent veterans cut by their former teams during the season. However, if they want to make a bigger move, they should target any of these four positions at the deadline.

If the Green Bay Packers want to make a splash at this year’s trade deadline, they should target any of these four positions.

Position Packers should target at trade deadline: Tight End

Following a breakout year for Robert Tonyan, he’s failed miserably to live up to the hype so far. His bread and butter is in the passing game where he only has 11 receptions for 92 yards and one touchdown through six games. That’s awful.

There are a couple of tight ends on the market Green Bay could look into acquiring including Evan Engram and Hayden Hurst. Both guys are free agents next year meaning the Packers wouldn’t add to their 2022 cap hell. That being said, the most likely scenario is waiting to see if Tonyan can revert to his 2020 form.
