Packers early trade deadline candidates: Available, but unlikely

Marcus Maye, S, New York Jets

Cameron Dantzler, CB, Minnesota

Despite Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage holding down the starting safety spots, Green Bay could still use a third safety to truly unlock Savage’s roaming ability. Acquiring another player at the position would allow defensive coordinator Joe Barry to use Savage in the “star” position more often and help make up for some of the lost talent at cornerback.

Speaking of cornerback, the Vikings have a battle brewing with youngster Cameron Dantzler. Following a game a couple of weeks ago, Dantzler sent a mysterious tweet that had to be addressed by head coach Mike Zimmer in the media. It’s unlikely the two division rivals complete a trade, especially this early in the season.
