Packers early trade deadline candidates: Defensive players that aren’t worth it

Robert Quinn, OLB, Chicago

Dante Fowler, OLB, Atlanta

Trey Flowers, OLB, Detroit

Fletcher Cox, DL, Philadelphia

These players would be great additions to the Packers, however, their high salaries make it so it’s not worth acquiring their services unless their original team eats a bunch of salary.

Quinn, Fowler, and Flowers could help bolster Green Bay’s pass rush and protect them against an injury to either Preston Smith or Rashan Gary. The Packers have struggled to get after the quarterback from time to time and it has resulted in some big plays. Those three aren’t home-wreckers, but would be a huge upgrade over what they currently have.

As for Cox, well, we all know about the struggles of Green Bay’s defensive line. Kingsley Keke has begun to come on in recent weeks, but it’s still not enough. Cox would give the Packers another quality big body up front alongside Kenny Clark.
