The Green Bay Packers are in an extremely difficult position with their star cornerback Jaire Alexander battling a shoulder injury and out for an undisclosed period of time.

Despite his injury happening in Sunday’s game, the Packers didn’t have a real update until Friday when head coach Matt LaFleur said Alexander opted against surgery and will see if it can heal on its own. Even then, he just said Alexander will be out for a “matter of weeks.”

In response, the Packers signed cornerback Rasul Douglas off the Arizona Cardinals practice squad. Douglas is a big, physical cornerback who can play on the outside in a zone scheme. However, he’s not the type of player Green Bay is going to want on the field against good teams. Although that will be extremely difficult to find, here are three cornerbacks the Packers should target in Alexander’s absence.

With Jaire Alexander out for an undefined period of time, the Green Bay Packers should target any of these three cornerbacks.

Cornerback Packers should target with Jaire Alexander out: Cameron Dantzler, Minnesota Vikings

It’s difficult to justify trading with your division rival, but the Vikings find themselves at the bottom of the NFC North while Green Bay is at the top through four weeks.

There seems to be a battle brewing between Cameron Dantzler and the team, as neither party is happy with the other. Dantzler sent out a cryptic tweet following the Vikings’ loss on Sunday and head coach Mike Zimmer said he’ll talk to the corner about the message.

Dantzler was a third-round pick in last year’s draft, meaning the Packers would probably have to part with a Day two or three pick to get him. Dantzler isn’t perfect by any means, but he is probably an upgrade over everyone else not named Eric Stokes or Kevin King on the roster.
